Watercolour retreat in Tarifa

Join me for my upcoming art retreat in Tarifa. Over the course of two days, I will share with you my passion and experience with watercolour, offering you the best guidance to help improve your technique. We will explore everything from essential foundations to advanced methods, enabling you to progress quickly. No previous experience is required, as the level of difficulty will be adapted to each participant. My commitment is to provide you with personalised attention and to make this retreat an enriching and inspiring experience.
Course Content
Live demonstrations.
Watch every stage of the creative process, from the initial pencil sketch to the layering of washes and the final touches with precise details.
Essential materials and techniques.
Discover the best materials for painting with watercolour. Master basic techniques such as wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry. Learn to control and manage water and pigment, as well as drying times.
Animal and human portraiture.
Observe your subject: where does the light come from? Where are the shadows cast? What is its form?
Learn how to draw and paint animals and portraits while respecting their anatomy, and create expressive works with an abstract touch.
Creative technique.
Let yourself be guided by the flow of watercolour and its effects. Play with water, pigment and complementary materials to create experimental works such as galaxies, organic shapes and abstract compositions.
Personal development.
Throughout the retreat, you will connect with fellow artists and creative minds in a welcoming and inspiring environment. As the course progresses, you will see how your technique evolves and your personal style naturally takes shape.

Saturday 27 September:
Morning session:
9:30 – 9:45 Arrival at the Floating House
10:00 Group welcome presentation and breakfast
11:00 Theoretical introduction to watercolour, experimental creative work, live demonstration, single-colour watercolour based on a photograph
13:30 – 16:00 Lunch break
Afternoon session:
16:00 Free technique for colour mixing, experimenting with simple sketches while creating your own colour palette. Animal portrait in several colours
18:00 Refreshment break
18:30 Introduction to creative animal and human portraiture, learning to paint eyes and expressive gazes
20:00 End of session
Sunday 28 September:
9:30 Breakfast
10:15 – 13:30 Final project: create your own artistic composition combining abstract or realistic portraits with natural elements and watercolour effects. Let your brush flow freely to create a beautiful and expressive watercolour

Location:
Tarifa is a picturesque Andalusian white village, located in the province of Cádiz and enriched by the influence of various cultures that have left their mark over the centuries. Situated in a unique setting, Tarifa is the southernmost point of continental Europe, just a few kilometres from Africa. It is also where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea.
It is renowned for its beautiful historic centre with narrow streets and white façades, its endless sandy beaches and its rich cultural heritage.
Tarifa is also famous for its exquisite gastronomy, vibrant culture and lively atmosphere, as well as being one of the world’s top destinations for kitesurfing. Ecotourism also plays an important role in the town, with activities such as whale and bird watching, allowing you to enjoy nature in all its splendour.
The retreat will take place at the White House, an eco-friendly and welcoming guesthouse with breathtaking views of the Strait, a large garden, terraces and private parking.
The White House is accessible by car via a private road. From the house, a footpath leads directly to the centre of Tarifa, which is just a 10-minute walk away.
Accommodation (optional):
The White House offers several rooms for one, two or three people. Each room is equipped with bed linen and towels. Both the private kitchens and the shared kitchen are fully equipped. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the indoor and outdoor areas of the house.
At the White House, sustainability is a top priority, making it one of the few guesthouses in the area to run entirely on renewable energy.
Price:
The price of the retreat is €150 (without accommodation), and includes all materials, full breakfast on both days and an afternoon snack on Saturday.
Important: Accommodation at the White House is limited and can be booked via my website until Monday 18 August. A minimum stay of 2 nights is required. After this date, you will need to check availability directly on their website or arrange alternative accommodation in the area.
I strongly recommend booking accommodation in advance, as Tarifa is a very popular destination, especially during the warmer months.
Cancellation policy:
The workshop fee is non-refundable, regardless of the reason for cancellation. However, a voucher equal to the amount paid will be issued, redeemable in my online shop for courses and products.
