Akris Photography & Painting

January 92, Granada.
Marine biologist, activist and artist.
From a very young age, I felt a deep devotion to the ocean. I dreamed of exploring it and studying cetaceans, always with the firm belief that my path would be marine biology.
While waiting for that dream to come true, I spent hours drawing, often creating seascapes and orcas—my first great love. At school, I was known as the girl who paints whales. The sea was far from home, and painting was my way of bringing it closer and, in a way, envisioning my future. Back then, I could never have imagined that one day I would pursue both professionally.
During my teenage years, I discovered the art of photography and digital editing. Painting took a back seat for a long time. The first time I used a DSLR camera was at the age of 16. I remember spending countless sleepless nights learning to edit photos with the limited resources available at the time. That was when Akris was born. I started sharing my photos on blogs and taking on small photography jobs. I had found a great passion that, to this day, remains one of my favourite pastimes. I began with artistic photography and portraits, and over the years, I have been fortunate enough to document numerous journeys around the world and capture incredible wildlife.
My career as a scientist has led me to live and work in various places and countries, allowing me to fulfil that childhood dream: working with cetaceans.
Today, I combine my professional career as a marine biologist with art.
